Range On Pyrenees

October 15, 2019 by R. A. Constable

September 2019

One Frenchman, a Canadian, an American couple and a man with several passports meet in Barcelona, light up the town, then saddle up and head for the hills. Big ones. Crossing back and forth between France and Spain across the Pyrenees Mountains, tracing the tracks of the Tour de France, sleeping in castles and gorging on jamon.

The mountains were frequently shrouded in clouds, and occasionally our rides through the passes were wrapped in pea soup fog.
Deryk. Shocked to be seen!
A roadside photo op.
Latoya.
Triumphant.
Two gentlemen met on a mountain path.
In the best of company.
A mountain stream in the early morning near the Parador Refugio.
Along the route of the Tour d'France.
In the clouds atop the Col d'Aubisque.
Whose road is it?
Riding on the edge.
A wellhouse in France.
Summiting the Cols was hard enough on a motorcycle. No wonder the bicyclists dope their blood!
Leave the dregs for us.
a dramatic run along the Col d'Aspin.
On a crisp morning on the border between Spain and France.
Wildflowers.
Constant companions.
True grit.
Above the clouds.
The travelers, sitting atop the Cardona Castle.
Beneath the towering peaks of Monserrat.
By the sea, shortly before sailing back to England.
