Agog in Magog

October 27, 2018 by R. A. Constable

October 2018

Photographs from our 1,200 -mile foliage tour in October 2018. We looped up through the Catskills, through the lower Adirondacks, onto North Hero Island, across the top of Vermont, into Quebec to round Lake Memphremagog, then down to Rangeley ME, across New Hampshire and into Central Vermont.

Posie’s venerable KLR 650 gave up in Rutland, and we had to head back two-up aboard the Triumph Tiger, returning through the Berkshires and an overlay with our friends in Lakeville, CT.

FYI, the KLR had wet ignition – a week in the infirmary and some new seals and she was back on the road.

If you’re counting, we rode through eight mountain ranges: The Catskills, Adirondacks, Green Mountains, White Mountains, the Mahoosucs, Taconics, Berkshires and the Hudson Highlands.

As motorcycling goes, New England qualifies as ‘comfort touring’. More sweepers than twisties, but little traffic, good road conditions and cozy B&Bs in quaint towns for the stopovers.

If frequent breaks are your preference, there are hikes, vistas, antique shops, good food and more to provide variety to the ride.

Note the early-stage stubble. The author let it grow over 10 days. The wife didn't like it.
