A beautiful late afternoon on the Quaise beach.
We were shocked at the huge piles of scallop shells – hundreds upon hundreds of bushels worth of lost shellfish. Stranded victims of lengthy nor’easters which blow them up on the shore, they are relegated to a seagull feast.
Meanwhile, the house project is moving along. The ridge beam for the roof has been hoisted up, and the scaffolding erected to lay the rafters in place. Topping out is two weeks away, if the weather cooperates.
